Responsible for all functions related to the areas of public relations, marketing, branding, advertising, and graphic design for Virginia’s leading non-profit contemporary art museum and cultural resource in the City of Virginia Beach.
Charged with increasing public awareness of the organization and its programs locally, regionally, nationally; managing the internal and external communication needs of the organization; and promoting a favorable public image of the institution while working collaboratively with all department members and directors.
Created an assortment of design and marketing materials for such clients as Baked Beads, Choose Your Own Adventure, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Norwich University, Sugarbush Resort, Wood & Wood Signs and many others.
I have designed book covers, brochures, calendars, catalogs, logos, posters, stationery systems, menus, PowerPoint presentations, print and web advertising, signage, apparel, packaging, sales displays, maps, websites, e-newsletters and social media campaigns.
My marketing experience includes brand establishment and building the brand through advertising, collateral, sponsorships/partnerships, events and industry collaborations.
Other skills include business plan development and strategies, copywriting, press releases, print/radio advertising and media buys, fundraising, social media and web campaigns. Able to work with and establish marketing budgets and some experience developing loyalty campaigns and sales fulfillment strategies.
Created ads, collateral, web, social media, press and radio campaigns, many community events and private functions as well as coordinated and promoted them.
I also worked with community organizations, developed outreach/fundraising campaigns and established partnerships with like-minded businesses for cooperative event participation and advertising opportunities.
The tagline for the Big Picture Theater is “A Local Gathering Place with a Global Dimension” which allowed me the great pleasure to produce over a hundred diverse events ranging from human rights film festivals (films from around the world in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.), Skyping with Harry Belafonte and Ralph Nader, to an ACLU banned book reading and a Playing for Change Foundation open jam.
Assisted the publishers with the creation of book covers, catalogs, marketing materials, online and print ads, trade shows displays, website design and functionality, on- and offline gaming, some press releases and sales tools.
Created new visual direction for internal marketing team responsible for all resort print and web materials. Worked closely with the sales team to meet sales goals, as well as developed materials for internal business units, such as; restaurants, retail outlets, outdoor adventure programs, human resources and others.
Art directed and designed collateral for numerous campaigns at a mid-size ad agency with clients ranging from not-for-profit companies like Special Olympics, and the YMCA to transportation projects like the Pocahontas Parkway. Participated in logo, branding and direct mail initiatives for different retirement and real estate communities, including web presence. Art directed photo shoots, conference booths, Flash movies and signage.
Hired prior to graduating college for one of the first interactive design agencies in NYC. Developed permission-based email and online marketing for clients like AT&T, Disney, Unilever, Glaxo Wellcome, The Wall Street Journal, Salon.com, MCI Worldcom and others.
